The All-Round – Hussain Simaz “Kokky”

In the rich history of Baibalaa, few players have left an impression on both ends of the ring quite like Hussain Simaz, fondly known in the Baibalaa community as “Kokky.” An all-rounder in the truest sense, Kokky’s dominance was felt in both attack and defense, making him one of the most complete and feared players of his time.

What made Kokky special wasn’t just his physical strength or agility — it was his mindset and unique attacking style. When he stepped into the ring as a raider, defenders often attempted to push him back or pressure him out with aggressive gestures and body movement. But Kokky never flinched. Calm and composed, he would hold his ground, study the defenders up close, and when they made a move — he’d explode with precision and escape in a blink. That ability to stay in control under pressure and flip the situation in his favor was what made him a standout.

But Kokky was more than just an attacker. Inside the ring, his defense was equally powerful. He had the ability to read the opponent’s movement, and his firm grip and calculated holds made escaping him nearly impossible. Whether defending or raiding, he played with a relentless spirit that earned him respect across generations.

Kokky was also known for uplifting underdog teams and leading them to glory. He played a pivotal role in taking West Sports Club to the final in 1429 (2008) and once again proved his influence when he helped Hulhumale Sports reach the final in 1444 (2023) — both times showing that his presence could change the course of a team’s journey.

In 1425 (2004), his brilliance was officially recognized when he was awarded the prestigious Mr. Baibalaa title.

Even today, when fans talk about players who could turn a match around with both brain and brawn, Kokky’s name stands tall. A true warrior of the sport, and a symbol of what it means to be a Baibalaa all-rounder.
